PENDARVES

The development of Pendarves Estate began in 1986 and today the Company is known as Pendarves REW Pty Ltd. Pendarves REW Pty Limited is jointly owned by Pendarves own 'Wine Doctor' and Managing Director Dr Philip Norrie, and Anthony Proctor, Pendarves Chairman.

Pendarves REW Pty is currently producing and is soon to be retailing both red and white wines under three seperate labels including the "Pendarves" brand, that of "The Wine Doctor" and "REW Country". Pendarves REW Pty Ltd continues to flourish and Pendarves wine is exported to Europe, Asia and North America, together with significant distribution of Pendarves REW in Australia by WineIQ.

RESVERATROL

Resveratrol is a phytoalexin produced naturally by several plants when under attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi. Resveratrol has also been produced by chemical synthesis, and is sold as a nutritional supplement derived primarily from Japanese knotweed. Resveratrol extends the life span of several short-living species of animals. In mouse and rat experiments, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, blood-sugar-lowering and other beneficial cardiovascular effects of resveratrol have been reported. Most of these results have yet to be replicated in humans. In the only positive human trial, extremely high doses (3-5g) of resveratrol in a special proprietary formulation have been necessary to significantly lower blood sugar. From Wikipedia

Pendarves Resveratrol Enhanced Wines have been developed to contain between 1,500% and 10,000% of the 'normal' levels of the antioxidant Resveratrol. This means typically Resveratrol levels in our red wines are increased from 3-6mg/l to about 100mg/l, and Resveratrol in our white wines are also increased from 1mg/l to about 100mg/l.

WINE

Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermentation of grape juice. The natural chemical balance of grapes is such that they can ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes or other nutrients. Wine is produced by fermenting crushed grapes using various types of yeast which consume the sugars found in the grapes and convert them into alcohol. Various varieties of grapes and strains of yeasts are used depending on the types ofwine produced.

Although other fruits such as apples and berries can also be fermented, the resultant "wines" are normally named after the fruit from which they are produced (for example, apple wine or elderberry wine) and are generically known as fruit or country wine. Others, such as barley wine and rice wine (e.g. sake), are made from starch-based materials and resemble beer and spirit more than wine, while ginger wine is fortified with brandy. In these cases, the use of the term "wine" is a reference to the higher alcohol content, rather than production process.
