White Wines

VERDELHO
Pendarves Estate's "flagship" wine, and the largest variety planted. A splendid dry white variety, originally from Madeira, now deservedly enjoying a surge in popularity. It has distinctive "honeysuckle" depth of fruit, and a spicy herbal character that offers a lovely mouthful of flavour. Delicious with Australian seafood, Verdelho's spicy flavour component is also an excellent accompaniment to Asian-influenced food styles. Pendarves Verdelho was voted best in the Hunter by Winestate Magazine in 1996 and awarded the Trophy for Best Verdelho at the Hunter Valley Boutique Winemaker's Wine Show in 1997 and 2002.

SEMILLON/SAUVIGNON BLANC
This classic Bordeaux/Graves blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon shows the hallmarks of great Hunter white wines. The Sauvignon element adds a dimension of spice and added fruit at an early age that can often be lacking in the neutral fruit flavours of very young Semillon; the palate is long, loaded with fresh fruit and finely balanced with a refreshing acid 'cut'.

CHARDONNAY
Superb fruit (reflecting the very best of McLaren Vale - Australia's Mid-Palate) that shows the inherent varietal characters of Unwooded Chardonnay, with fig/melon flavours which develop great complexity and balance. Still very young, this 2008 Vintage wine will continue to develop in the Bottle for some years to come. The perfect accompaniment to Shellfish and Sea Food, White Meats, Pasta, Soft Cheeses and Salads – best served slightly chilled.
